Perseus Group is seeking a Senior to Intermediate WordPress Web Developer for a long-term remote contract focused on maintaining, securing, and optimizing a mature production website. The developer will take ownership of ongoing website maintenance while making improvements without compromising the stability and integrity of the existing codebase.
Key responsibilities include managing WordPress updates and fixes, implementing cosmetic and structural changes, reviewing plugins for vulnerabilities, applying security patches or replacements, and identifying performance issues and technical debt. The role also involves supporting a multilingual WordPress website, implementing proper localization and SEO structures, and improving organic search visibility through technical SEO, structured data, and emerging AI-driven search practices.
Candidates should have strong hands-on knowledge of WordPress core, themes, plugins, custom development, website security, vulnerability management, performance optimization, multilingual WordPress, and SEO. The ability to work independently, communicate clearly, collaborate with hosting providers and stakeholders, and proactively identify risks is important.
The position is remote and available to candidates based in North America, with approximately 15–20 hours per month and potential project-based increases. The listed contract rate is $50–$75 CAD per hour, while the U.S. salary disclosure lists an estimated range of USD $48.88–$59.74 per hour, subject to applicable factors and location.
